Steve DeBerg is known in professional football as the ultimate student of the game. With 18 years of experience as an NFL starting quarterback, he enjoyed one of the longest, most successful playing careers in the NFL. Steve competed with and learned from the very best, including several Hall of Fame coaches (Bill Walsh, Dan Reeves, Don Shula) and Hall of Fame quarterbacks (Roger Stauback, Joe Montana, John Elway, Steve Young, Dan Marino.)

Originally retiring as a player in 1993 after 17 years, DeBerg became quarterback coach with the New York Giants for the 1995 & 1996 seasons. DeBerg decided to come back as a player in 1998 with the Atlanta Falcons. At age 44, Steve became the oldest starter at any position in NFL history. That year he helped the Falcons earn a trip to Super Bowl XXXIII. Steve then became the quarter back coach of the Atlanta Falcons in 1999.

DeBerg's unique understanding of a quarterback's techniques and philosophies, along with his passion to pass on his knowledge to other quarterbacks, is how "The QuarterBack Edge" was initially developed in 2001.
